Description:
Poinciana regia - the most beautiful tree in Africa - a flat top with great green leaves like ostrich feathers, and a wonderfully graceful shape for a street or park tree. At the side, Phytolacca abyssinica, a more ant resistant tree - but still not as good as Jacaranda mimosifolia. [Shantz travel journal, Dec. 28, 1919]
