Cut over grassland. The trees are scattered - but fairly tall - are all of one type. Brachystegia? The grassland uniform and filled with herbs - which become apparent only when the grass is cut or burned off. Soil a red - sticky when wet. [Shantz travel journal, Nov. 4, 1919]
