Description:
Termites all through and Acacia way back. Went out north of Kimberley in P.M. and drove through a lot of red sand where the grass is unusually good. ... Ant hills (termites) are abundant in the grasslands. The soil is deep and red throughout - the subsoil rock is limestone at least in places. [Shantz travel journal, Sep. 21, 1919]
