A pure grassland taken looking back in a pasture just before arriving at the Modder River. Here are many springbok in the pasture. This is still Dg.Ds. [desert grassland / desert shrub] - decidedly not a grassland although this one small area was almost pure. [Shantz travel journal, Sep. 19, 1919
